How Does it Work? / Pediatric Neurologist Treatment Process
Our pediatric neurologists and specialists at Butterfly Learnings Center will provide treatment to your child using the following step-by-step procedure:
Consultation and Evaluation
During the initial consultation appointment, our pediatric neurologist or developmental pediatrician will evaluate your child’s condition and health status.
Our specialist will discuss the child’s problems with the parents, teachers, caregivers, and pediatrician of the child.
Diagnostic Tests
The pediatric neurologist may order a few diagnostic tests to arrive at an accurate diagnosis of the child’s medical condition. The various tests recommended may include the following:
- Neuroimaging: Tests like computed tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans can help the doctor in visualizing the structure of the brain and detect abnormalities such as infections, brain tumors, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and some types of genetic disorders.
- Electroencephalography (EEG): This test helps in recording the electrical activity of the child’s brain and can help in the diagnosis of epilepsy.
- Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap): A small needle will be inserted inside the child’s lower back in this test to remove some spinal fluid (fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord). The fluid is then checked for any signs of infection or inflammation.
- Blood Tests: Routine blood tests can help in checking for signs of infection or changes in the body’s electrolyte levels.
- Genetic Testing: It is a type of blood test done to identify specific genetic mutations associated with certain neurological disorders.
- Neuropsychological Testing: The behavior of the child, the child’s cognitive function, and performance in school are assessed to provide a more detailed explanation of the child’s neurodevelopmental condition.
- Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography (EMG): The child’s nerve and muscle function will be checked using these tests. The tests help diagnose nerve injuries and neuromuscular conditions.
Personalized Plan of Treatment
A personalized treatment plan will be offered to your child based on the child’s assessment and test results.
The child’s treatment plan may include service provided by the pediatric neurologist, along with other necessary therapies, like speech therapy and occupational therapy, that the child may require.
Treatments and Interventions
The child can now start with various types of treatments and interventions, including pediatric neurologist services.
Our pediatric neurologists and therapists will work as a team to provide your child with a holistic treatment approach.
Constant Monitoring and Adjustments
Our specialists will be monitoring your child’s response to therapies and progress constantly. The child’s treatment plan may be modified based on your child’s progress.
