How Does it Work? / Pediatric Neurologist Treatment Process
We follow a step-wise protocol at Butterfly Learnings Center to provide the best diagnosis and appropriate interventions for your child. The procedure is as follows:
Consultation and Assessment
Our pediatric neurologist or developmental pediatrician will thoroughly evaluate your child during the first consultation appointment.
Our specialist doctor will discuss your child’s symptoms and problems with you, as well as with the child’s pediatrician, caregivers, and teachers to get a better understanding of the child’s condition.
Diagnostic Tests
After examining the child physically and knowing about the symptoms and medical history of the child, the pediatric neurologist may order a few diagnostic tests to get an accurate diagnosis of the condition. The tests that may be recommended include:
- Neuroimaging: Computed tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans can help in visualizing the brain’s structure and detection of abnormalities like brain tumors, infections, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and certain genetic disorders.
- Electroencephalography (EEG): This is a non-invasive type of test performed to record the brain’s electrical activity and can help diagnose epilepsy.
- Lumbar Puncture / Spinal Tap: In this test, the doctor inserts a small needle in the child’s lower back to obtain a spinal fluid sample, which is a fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This test helps in checking for infection or inflammation.
- Blood Tests: These tests help check for signs of infection or electrolyte changes.
- Genetic Testing: This type of blood test helps in the identification of specific genetic mutations associated with different neurological disorders.
- Neuropsychological Testing: This test helps assess the child’s behavior, cognitive function, and academic performance to give a detailed insight into neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography (EMG): These tests help in checking nerve and muscle function, as well as diagnose nerve injuries and neuromuscular disorders.
Preparation of an Individualized Treatment Plan
Our pediatric neurologist will now prepare a customized treatment plan for your child based on the evaluation of the child and the diagnostic test reports.
The treatment plan will be inclusive of the pediatric neurologist services, as well as other therapies, like speech therapy, occupation therapy, etc. that may be needed by the child.
Commencement ofPediatric Neurologist Services and Other Therapies
Your child’s treatment will then be started at Butterfly Learnings Center depending on the child’s treatment plan, safely and comfortably.
Our team comprising pediatric neurologists and other therapists works together to provide your child with appropriate treatment for the neurological disorder present.
Monitoring and Adjustments
Your child’s progress and response to treatment will be constantly monitored by our specialists and they will make the necessary adjustments to the plan of treatment periodically for improved outcomes.
The child’s progress and the updated treatment plans will be shared with the parents via our user-friendly online app.
